Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and Thrasher discuss Return to Oz. Often goofy at times (what Raimi film isn't?), Oz the Great and Powerful is charming enough where you wish a few more flicks would have been made in this same style. A big war battle at the end never has as much stakes as bitchy relationship between the witches does. James Franco makes a decent titular Oz, Michelle Williams is a resplendent Glinda, but there are too many special effects here just for a gag. Sam Raimi's first foray into the high fantasy genre since Army of Darkness, Oz the Great and Powerful carries on the dark humor and wit of the books into its own story. Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz. A charlatan carnival barker gets transported to Oz where he has 99 problems and a witch is one. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and Thrasher discuss Oz the Great and Powerful. Hats off to Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, and Emma Watson for hitting the right tone in their performances between a twee children's story and a big budget feature film.įollow the show on Twitter Marc with a C's music at Bandcamp

Running a hair over two-and-a-half hours, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a bit of a slog but sets the table for a lot of the movies to follow.
HUNGRY SHARK WORLD ATOMIC SHARK SERIES
John Williams creates a series of iconic music themes here used over and over again in the sequels. At times, it feels like a Scooby Doo episode in a wizard setting. Directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone 2: Lost in New York), this first entry is a lot of exposition. Having become a best-selling series of books, it was no surprise when the Harry Potter series hit the silver screen. Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Alan Rickman, and Emma Watson. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Jersey Jason discuss discuss Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (outside the US, this is known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone). For a sanitized made-for-TV version of the Nerds, Revenge of the Nerds III isn't half bad. A court case at the end brings to mind the heroic speech at the end of the original film. There are some fun cameos in here (Clancy Brown as a gas station attendant comes to mind), but the new nerds being a lot less well developed than the old nerds makes for a sometimes jarring plot. Now a reformed nerd, yuppie Lewis has to confront his nerd past when the bully Stanley comes back into his life as a friend.
HUNGRY SHARK WORLD ATOMIC SHARK TV
The first of two TV movies in the Nerds series (according to Curtis Armstrong's memoir, these also served as backdoor pilots for Revenge of the Nerds TV shows that never got off the ground), Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation manages to introduce a lot of new characters but focuses more on the old ones. Starring Curtis Armstrong, Robert Carradine, and Julia Montgomery. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Alex Miller discuss Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation.
